I'm
currently reading The Wild Places by Robert Macfarlane and, goodness me, that
man can write. The book is filled with just the most beautiful descriptions of
Britain's dwindling wildernesses. Part celebration, part exhortation and part
elegy, it's a bittersweet joy to read. This is what the English language sounds
like when an author has mastered prose.
